Recently turned property entrepreneur, and soon-to-be Strike investor, Tinie Tempah is partnering with estate agency Strike which is turning the industry on its head with its completely free house-selling service. The host of C4’s Extraordinary Extensions is working with Strike to launch and judge a reimbursement fund that will give sellers who have previously paid out fees with other estate agents a chance to claim some of their cash back. So, for those sellers who were robbed of the chance to install a hotel-worthy bathroom in their new home or invest in the lavish kitchen worktops of their dreams, this fund is for you.
Tinie, who is also in the process of adding Strike to his investment portfolio, said: ‘“The idea of selling property without the need for an “estate agent” is music to my ears. I’ve been investing in property for over 10 years and I love how Strike is innovating the Estate Agency game, by helping to put you back in charge of how you sell (or buy) your house. I’ve always questioned why we have to pay so much to the estate agent when that money could be spent on improving our home instead – especially as renovation is my passion when it comes to property.”
Strike’s Free the Fees fund is open for online submissions to anyone in the UK who wants to claim back some of the cash previously splashed on estate agent fees and buy the new house things they really wanted.
Whether it’s installing a Gwyneth Paltrow inspired spa bathroom, or experimenting with the hand painted wallpaper trend, Strike is calling on house-sellers to share their dream, unique house improvement idea to submit a claim. The most creative and STRIKE-ing entry as judged by Tinie will be compensated the full average UK estate agent fee3.
Tinie said “I’m excited to hear what else people would’ve spent their Estate Agent fees on – like a crazy display space for the ultimate trainer collection or a unique statue of a giraffe (like me), I love seeing what levels of creativity people have when it comes to their homes. If I could’ve saved the estate agent fees for the houses I’ve sold, by now I would’ve created a full-on spa with a steam room and sauna for my home.”
Recent research commissioned by Strike found that 35% of Brits found the process of selling their house so stressful that they are put off ever doing it again. The second biggest bugbear of moving house was lining the pockets of estate agents. 56% of people who have ever paid out felt reluctant or otherwise negative about paying, quoting that they felt “ripped off” and “resentful”. Almost half of sellers admitted to spending less on other major life costs compared to estate agent fees – including a car, their wedding, university fees and holiday trip of a lifetime. More than three-quarters claimed they would have preferred to spend the cash on doing up their new property. (Further stats available on request).
Strike has eliminated fees altogether to become the first agent to genuinely sell houses for free, now available for house sellers across the UK, the digital-first, full-service estate agent promises all homeowners the simplest way to sell homes for free via a free mobile app.
