Nike reported earlier this year that they would be collaborating with female designers, Martine Rose, Yoon and Sarah Andelman signalling a change for the brand who are historically known to collab with male designers. More details on the sportswear brands first collab with the trio, the Martine Rose collaboration. It has been confirmed that the UK based designer will give us her interpretation of the Nike Monarch.
“We took a silhouette based on a very British tracksuit that you might get in JD Sports,” Rose told Vogue. “Then, we created a trainer inspired by Nike’s Monarch style, which is a very middle-America-dad trainer,”.
It has also been revealed that part of the collaboration would be available to buy on Craigslist. Three different Martine Rose supporters – London Steve, photographer Surya, and sneaker-head Tesfa – will act as London-based stockists.
