London’s rising artist Samm Henshaw shows us his true potential in his new track ‘Autonomy (Slave)’ featuring grime artist Bonkaz. The tune has caused great recognition since being premiered on Mistajam’s BBC Radio 1Xtra as a new reconstructed version of the original that appears on his current debut EP ‘The Sound Experiment’. The 23-year old solidifies his musical talent in this anthem by presenting his mould-breaking independence, which delicately showcases the raw emotion and powerful impact of Henshaw’s gripping vocals. Whilst being inspired by musical influences such as Paolo Nutini and D’Angelo, Henshaw’s roots play a huge part in his music. Reflecting his album title, his love for experimentation refuses to follow any conventions in terms of his music, therefore demonstrating his ability to create masterful imagery through his versatile sound.

The British soul singer/songwriter claims, “Art is about freedom and doing your own thing” which mirrors the themes he addresses within his music as he speaks about the pressures and restrictions young people go through and not wanting to be a slave to it all.
