It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple.”

Ronda Rousey, who suffered a badly split lip in the knockout loss and had cosmetic surgery to repair it, says it may take six months to fully recover from the injuries she sustained in her Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight title defeat by Holly Holm in November.

For the first time since having been served a crushing defeat by way of Holly Holm’s leg at UFC 193, Ronda Rousey tells ESPN Magazine in an exclusive interview: “I just feel so embarrassed. How I fought after that is such an embarrassing representation of myself. I wasn’t even f*cking there.” But the former UFC Bantamweight Champion hasn’t lost determination and is desperate to win back her title, as she told ESPN she “needs to come back,” and she “needs to beat this chick.” The previously undefeated Rousey was the heavy favourite to beat Holm, having dispatched of her three prior opponents in 64 seconds combined. But Rousey was unable to get Holm on the ground and had no answer for Holm’s superior power. Understandably, the fighter is “really f*cking sad” about her loss, as well as the dashing of her hopes of finishing her career undefeated. However, Rousey remains hopeful, adding that “maybe I can’t do it all before my prime, before my body is done, but f*ck it, maybe I can.” Rousey insisted she didn’t take Holm for granted. “I always think I can lose all of them. I’m the only one that’s scared when I walk in there. I’m always f*cking scared.” So will she fight again?

“Of course. What else am I going to f*cking do?”
