After making its online debut with Dailymotion in May last year with performances from the likes of hotly tipped acts including three time MOBO Award winner Stormzy and recent Sony Music/Pitched Up signee Bonkaz, PLAYit, the brain child of former Rinse FM DJ & Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio London anchor Julie Adenuga, quickly accelerated on to the next level, becoming televised on Channel AKA. Season 2 of the show saw established artists Footsie, Nolay, Maxsta and Yungen take to the centre stage of PLAYit, filmed at Dalston’s beloved club venue The Alibi, where artists continued to be interviewed by Adenuga alongside new, talented and highly anticipated artists such as J Hus, Suli Breaks, Jessica Agombar, MoStack, Jammz and Avelino.
In 2015, PLAYit does not disappoint as it looks to take artists to the next level and is now set to release their official compilation album featuring previous guests. The compilation is jam packed with tracks from PLAYit’s most memorable episodes, with star-studded exclusives and with memorable music from East London rapper Maxsta, MOBO Nominee Shystie and BBC Radio 1Xtra supported singer Olivia Louise to name a few. Speaking on the upcoming project, PLAYit Founder Julie Adenuga states, “After two years of producing & presenting my own TV show – a celebration is definitely in order. I hope the compilation draws attention to what PLAYit is all about, the type of artist/musician it represents & the various types of music these artists & musicians create. Giving unsigned talented people a platform is our only goal, we want to work as hard as they do & continue to push them where we can & then have a party at the end!”
Now the UK Platform has come together with DJ Logan Sama (Keepin it Grimy/BBC Radio 1Xtra) to bring you a live back-to-back video set featuring artists Icie, Rocks FOE, Brotherhood and Koder from the upcoming compilation album, which will be out on November 13th. The video encapsulates the energy and charisma of each of those involved which will translate through the compilation album as well.
