Chip and Bugzy Malone Throw Shots back to back in the early hours

With a beef that took a five month break, we were all surprised when Chip came back and dropped 3 replies [‘Light Work’, ‘Run Out Riddim’ & ‘Hat Trick’] in a week. The North London rapper didn’t stop there though as not only did he do a live performance of his tracks on Tim Westwood‘s Capital Xtra show, but he showed that he really cant run out of bars with ‘96 Bars of Revenge‘, taking shots at Bugzy Malone and Tinie Tempah. Not content with rinsing one classic grime instrumental [96 Bars of Revenge being produced by JME], Chip made it 5 in a row with his track ‘Coward‘, using Ruff Squad‘s 2006 ‘Tings in Boots‘ instrumental. While everyone rejoyced in another Chip send, people wondered if Bugzy would reply and yesterday marked the return of the Manchester MC with his track entitled ‘Wasteman‘. The track, premiered by Link Up TV, saw response from fans on both sides and neutrals while Chip simply uploaded a video to Instagram, stating he would reply at 11pm.
As 11pm came and went, people awaited the response that Chip had promised. By midnight, people were asking questions [Has Bugzy kidnapped Chip?, Has Chip finally run out of bars?] and uploading a string of humourous memes. While people joked about a rumour of Chip’s phone freezing due to “popping off” resulting in the delay, there was a concern that Chip really wasn’t going to upload anything and we as the fans had been spun a lie. However Chip, via Snapchat and GRM Daily, via Twitter, ensured us that the video would be up, and it would be up tonight. So many people, including I, sat and refreshed their timeline, patiently waiting. At approximately 1.58am, Chip finally dropped his reply entitled ‘Dickhead‘, with an accompanying visual of Chip, in a petrol station, in his pyjamas, sending once again for the 0161 resident. In all honesty, his pyjamas can be excused [Chip did manage to pen, record and mix a song and film and edit a video in 6/7 hours] and its clear that ‘Dickhead‘ is a direct response to‘Wasteman‘, referencing Bugzy’s bars about his mohawk and velor tracksuit. On the outro, it seems as if Chip is putting his beef to rest and a picture on his Instagram showed Mortal Kombat‘s famous “FINISH HIM” slogan. But if this was to be Chips final response, it seems like a lack lustre effort compared to ‘Run Out Riddim‘ or ‘96 Bars of Revenge‘. Yes, this could be put down to the quickness that ‘Dickhead‘ was prepared, but no one put that 11pm deadline [which he missed!] on the track but himself.
After all the drama surrounding the delay in ‘Dickhead‘, it seemed that the night was over and both artists had a fair shot at each other. However, it seemed the night was young for one Bugzy Malone as he wasn’t content with putting out the one diss track for the night, replying in the early hours with ‘Zombie Riddim‘ which featured on the JDZ Media channel. The video sees Bugzy roaming the streets with a few friends, again aiming for the Tottenham MC. While Bugzy tackles the issue of his decision not to go to Tottenham  to film [“I came to Tottenham, but I never sent for the endz, and fuck sending for your friends”], it seemed that Bugzy wasn’t addressing anything directly from the ‘Dickhead‘ track, which made the track pack less of a punch. Hats off to Bugzy for replying in such a short space of time, which no-one really expected, and his ending made it clear what Bugzy’s next steps are for this war of words;
“I know you’ve got another 5 diss tracks for me, but its all starting to get boring now fam. If you’ve got anything to say. come say it to my face…lets fucking clash rudeboy.”

While the dust settles on a busy day for the two MCs, we all await to see what will happen next and a lot of questions will be asked. Will Chip come back with another track or will he remain silent? Will Bugzy drop a hat trick of his own? Who did Chip get locked up? Will Jammer step in and offer us a Lord of the Mics clash we’d all love to see? Will Geko get involved and if so, what side will be pick? Will Tinie reply to ‘Coward’? Will Tinie team up with Bugzy Malone once more? Will Rage weigh in on Bugzy’s silence to his track ‘Self Explanatory’? Only time can tell on this one but one thing is sure, I’m excited to see what happens.. Ding Ding, Round 2…FIGHT!
