According to the The Wall Street Journal and sources close to Jay Z’s streamimg company TIDAL, Apple are in talks with the Roc a Fella CEO and Rapper / businessman to acquire the company.

The main reason for the interest could be to do with the fact that Apple Music  currently only has 15 million subscribers which compared to their direct competitors Spotify at a 100 million subscribers is a drop in the ocean not to mention the fact the the consumer journey to purchase company exclusives will be a lot smoother as they will be able to get them within the same app with the same subscription fee.

We can’t fault Jay – Z if he does sell part of the company or even all of the company as business is business and having bought TIDAL from Aspiro back in March 2015 for $56 million the rapper has branded and marketed it into a powerhouse with 19 fellow Musicians on board as co-owners, including Beyonce, Daft Punk, Rihanna, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris, Arcade Fire, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Jack White, J. Cole, Deadmau5, Madonna, Usher and Nicki Minaj. These co-signs give TIDAL a real competitive edge when it comes to Music exclusives.

We will keep you updated on the deal.
