Sneaker collecting isn’t a new fad started the other day off the back of a clever bit of marketing it is a real culture that exists worldwide and within the culture you have Niche collectors who only collect and wear sneakers from one brand, in the UK one brand has become synonymous with Sneaker collecting and that is adidas. adidas brand consultant Gary Aspden, Stone Roses Lead singer Ian Brown, noted adidas collectors Robert Brooks and Mike Chetcuti featured in a project that highlights the Passion and love for sneaker collecting when adidas received information about a lost stockist of vintage adidas stuff all the way out in The Capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires the sneaker collecting posse were filmed searching through the shop’s inventory which has been amassed by owner Carlos Ruiz, who’s dedicated his life to the store for the last 34 years.
The Journey was filmed and photographed by Greg Bond and Neil Bedford and compiled into a short film entitled “Sole Searching in South America” and formed part of the promo for an adidas Originals x Spezial collection alongside an adidas exhibiton tour as part of Design Manchester 2014 and a Hard back book, the collection will release at select adidas stockists on October 25th.
