J Cole took a break from his busy tour schedule to visit one of USA’s largest male jail, San Quentin State Prison to speak to inmates who are serving a life sentence.

Cole visited the prison with Dreamville president Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad to speak to inmates who “will never see the outside again,” Ib writes in an Instagram post. “That experience was a life changing experience and wish I had the ability to put that in a caption but that wouldn’t be doing it justice”. Another one of Cole’s team, Dreamville head of art direction, Felton Brown also dedicated a post to the inmates “Spent a day with some brothers whose stories go unheard behind the wall. Learned a lot, so much work to be done. This system will try to not give you a voice but we’re listening.✊”

The prison talk follows Cole’s latest entrance to his ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ tour where he took to the stage wearing an orange prison jumpsuit while a group of actors dressed as policemen escorted him on stage.

Do you feel that more musicians/public figures should visit prison’s to talk to inmates?
