The running brand that has seen its trainers rise in popularity amongst the youth this year has shown that it is thinking about others by donating $1 million to the One Fund Boston, to aid the people affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy.
The One Fund Boston is a charity that has been set up by Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Massachusetts Governor Davel Patrick to help those affected by the tragedy that took place at the Boston Marathon. New Balance released a press statement that read:
“In the aftermath of the tragedy that struck our home and our hearts, the strength of the Boston community has been truly inspiring. To help those affected, we’ve made a $1 million contribution to One Fund Boston. We’re with you Boston, and we’ll keep on running together”.
The Boston Marathon bombings and the events that followed have shaken the world and especially the running world. we cannot begin to comprehend why this happened all we can do is give our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families, a marathon is supposed to represent a celebration of human achievement, and a representation of how hard training and planning can be used to achieve your goals no matter how big they may be, making what happened even more despicable and emotional. We salute New Balance in their philanthropy.
