UK vocalist/rapper Bryn is one of our most popular up and coming artists, we have been watching and supporting the Croydon teenager as she has grown from doing covers of her favorite UK and US Rappers on Instagram to performing at Big Tobz’s Headline show, before being signed in August last year to Virgin EMI Records. Since signing her deal Bryn has dropped the banger ‘Pull Up’ with Yung Fume, performed at the 02 Islington with Central Cee and jumped on stage with US artist Bhad Barbie at her Wireless after party show. The wavy artist dropped her Solo single ‘Queenpin’ today and we caught up with her to finally have a chat about her dope journey.
From uploading covers of songs to having your own, tell us how it all started?
It all started in about 2016, June time I think it was. I started doing covers to build up supporters and I didn’t really expect that this many people to be supporting me! In school, I enjoyed music lessons and I was a part of the choir.
Your new track Queenpin released today congratulations! What was the inspiration behind it?
‘Queenpin’ has no feature this time, so it’s just me straight. It’s a different vibe, it’s more rapping and has a little bit of a rock vibe. The song is about haters, when I was at school I used to get bullied so I wanted a song people could relate to.
It’s great to see another female in the industry, do you think it’s harder being a female artist and being noticed within the UK urban scene?
Yeah it is. I like seeing girls doing this. At the moment, Cardi B is inspiring – when I was 13 there wasn’t many girl rappers apart from Nicki Minaj who I would look up to.
What is the future saying for Bryn? Do you have any other big plans?
In 2 years time, I would love to do a UK tour and start doing shows in America or Germany. I want to become international and not just UK based. I want everyone to relate to my music.
