Over the weekend images that hinted at a Skepta and Nike collab began to surface online and around London. Days later we have confirmation of a the collab. Using the Air Max 97 Ultra as the silhouette Skeppy has chosen to give a Moroccan vibe by adding earthy tones to the 97s.
Inspirations also lie from another grime sneaker staple, the Air Max 1999 Tuned. The Tuned series has sentimental value to Skepta, as he detailed to Nike that the Tuned was “the first shoe I ever saved up up money to buy”. Those with a keen eye will notice the hat Joseph is wearing in the below image has a altered TN logo which also features on the trainers insole, this could hint at a possible apparel line.
