Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola claimed legend Paul Scholes ‘wouldn’t recognise a leader if he was in front of Sir Winston Churchill’. This bizzare claim comes days after United’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton & after some serious comments from Scholes himself where he cristicised Pogba’s role in the United team following a massive summer where he won the World Cup 2018 with France.

In an outburst on Twitter, Raiola also said Scholes ‘should become sports director and advise (Ed) Woodward to sell Pogba’ and that he would have few ‘sleepless nights to find Pogba a new club’.

World Cup winner Pogba captained United to victory against Leicester in the first game of the season, but said after the match: “There are things I can say and there are things I cannot say… otherwise I will get fined.”

Last week, Scholes said: “What we do know is that Paul needs to perform more often than he is doing. We all know the talent he’s got; great strength, great ability, an athlete. But he’s only doing it one if every three or four games. If you’re going to challenge for a title I just don’t think that can happen.

“Captain’s armband? I thought that the minute we signed him he should have been made captain. Give him some responsibility as a young player.”

The France international took to Twitter a few hours after Raiola’s dig at Scholes, though he didn’t make any mention of the feud or his future.

Instead, the £89million midfielder tweeted a picture of himself and Djibril Sidibe praying during one of France’s World Cup games.

The snap’s accompanying caption read: “Eid Mubarak.”
