Amsterdam’s favourite Filling Pieces have enlisted French photographer Viktor Vauthier to shoot their forthcoming campaign entitled Momento SS18.

The Memento collection the team revisited the visual lexicon of their youth, reconnecting with the past with a modern day twist. The collection plays with the overt branding that drove the rise of consumerism, juxtaposing it against references to real subcultures that act as the perfect antidote to today’s social media obsessed society.

Filling Pieces tried several new iterations of the logo referencing to cultural identities that shaped the modern world. It also featured the updated classic silhouettes, such as the Low Top and Mountain Cut along with new boots and athletic styles.

FP see innovation is the new leader and have lead the way with the application of new materials with mesh and nylon as well as canvas to create the perfect summer trainer. The introduction of three new custom sole units made of the best materials including a lightweight EVA was also a massive change in the right direction.

The campaign plays with the collection theme, using film photography to give a grainy, nostalgic element to the shoot. Hues of burn-out orange, neon pink and blood red lend a vintage feel to the images, as if stumbled upon in an old copy of The Face.
