South London rapper Deoba has dropped his debut E.P aptly titled Chillogy, the E.P features chilled out instrumentals which compliment the rappers voice and flow perfectly. Arriving just in time for the colder evenings the extended play has a unique sound unlike many other rappers coming out of the UK rap scene at the moment. The beats are cinematic and expansive without losing the rapper who skillfully floats over the tracks. Despite the 6 track E.P being Deoba’s first the production values are still there which really helps cement the E.Ps easy listening quality.
Make no mistake however the arty beats are backed up by strong story telling from Deoba which illustrates two characters Melo and Nicole who experience the various emotions of life. Speaking on his E.P Deoba said ‘Chillogy’ is me trying to create a world where my listeners understand the everything of words. I wanted to, in the most creative ways, paint a picture of my life experiences that my listeners could relate to, using these two conceptual characters ‘Melo’ and ‘Nicole’ to explore human desire and emotions, while still providing good music to listen to, anyway”.
