With Valentines Day around the corner, it’s time to put together your ultimate playlist for the special day. Today, TRAPPED name five tunes that definitely need to be on your lists while showcasing a number of R&B artists who you definitely shouldn’t be sleeping on 2015;

1) The Weekend – Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)

This year, Valentines Day will be saturated with the buzz that is Fifty Shades of Grey. Whether you love it or hate it, you can’t knock the soundtrack that features artists from Frank Sinatra to Sia to Beyonce (the Crazy in Love refix is definitely worth a listen). However, the lead track off the list runs with the XOYO crooner and “Earned It” which currently sits high in all R&B charts globally. The song, matched with the NFSW video makes it number one in this Valentine’s list.

2) Immature – Can’t Wait

Immature (or if you remember them as IMx), one of the classic R&B boy bands of the late 90s are due to drop a new CD with “Remember” in May 2015. The band, famous for making Marques Houston a star, have produced a set list of new material plus classic jams such as “Never Lie” and “Please Don’t Go”. One of the lead tracks “Can’t Wait” offers a real classic vibe and will add magic to any Valentines night!

3) Jessie Ware – Champagne Kisses

The last few years have been fruitful for London-born Ware who has been nominated for a number of MOBO and BRIT awards and her current album Tough Love shot to #3 in the UK charts. Her latest offering, Champagne Kisses showcases her vocal talent and the simplistic video only adds to the creative R&B melody. The song itself is a slow tempo number and should help set the mood of any Valentine’s night.

4) Malachiae Warren – 24s

The R&B scene at the moment is going though one of its strongest phases in the past few years and there is an upsurge in new talent coming through the ranks. A perfect example of this is 19 year old Malachiae Warren who is gaining a considerable fan base, both online and in native USA. His latest track, ‘24s’ is a refix of T.I’s 2003 song of the same name but Malachiae brings a whole new vibe to the well known banger. Considering he is backed by the same team that made a household name of August Alsina, the future looks bright for Mr Warren.

5) Lyrica Anderson – Hashtag

We first came across Lyrica when she hooked up with the one and only Kevin Gates on the track ‘Feenin’ (definitely worth a listen!) and she reminded me of an early Mary J . Blige. Her incredible attitude to music and tracks has an almost 90s feel to it and this is highlighted by her latest release ‘Hashtag’. The song, focused on the modern relationship with the influences of Twitter and hashtags, is a classic which has all the aspects of a perfect throwback jam.
