Music giant Spotify have taken action against artists such as R.Kelly and XXXTENTACTION by removing the artists from featured playlists like Rap Caviar. The removed artists music will still appear on the music streaming service, however they will not receive promotion. The company explains the new policy as “When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator.”
Both of the aforementioned artists management teams have responded to the new policy; R.Kelly released an extensive statement which claims he is innocent. On the other hand XXX’s team decided to list a host of other artists they believe should get the same treatment.
