Selfridges pride themselves on being on trend and reflecting in their store what is popular on the street, after their collab with up and coming UK Fashion brand Trapstar, they have teamed up with Influential skate brand Slam City Skates to represent the skating culture and the fashion scene that compliments it. Skate culture was propelled into the headlines recently with the massive Save the South Bank petition that saw professional skaters, Music and Fashion personalities join thousands of skateboarders and BMX riders to voice their protest at council plans to remove the Skate park at Southbank, for more info go to LongLiveSouthbank.com. Now Selfridges have given Slam City pride of place in their new ground floor concession entitled Boardgames: a celebration of skate and surf culture and its influence on Spring/Summer fashion collections. The Slam City Popup shop has been called the ‘Board room’ and has unique design features such as a wall of boards: 50 limited edition boards from fashion designers Stella McCartney, Rick Owens, Jil Sander Sophia Webster and more. The Board games concession and Slam City Skates ‘Board room’ will be on the ground floor of Selfridges for a whole month and there is talk of a Skatepark being opened in the old Selfridges Hotel in conjunction with Mobile Brand HTC.
