19-year old Lehlohonolo Mikosi, also known as WhyKreeps steps into the grime scene with youth and a bag full of bars. Coming straight from South Africa to North London, Mikosi was introduced to the beauty of British Grime as he immediately knew this was a home base for him. With influence from Hip Hop and UK Rap, the South African artist began his journey spitting freestyles at the local youth club at as young as 13 years, after the positive responses he received, this encouraged him further to pursue with his rapping. He explains “I had a way of expressing myself and letting people know about my journey and hopefully assisting others through theirs”. Teaming up with friends that also desired to be in the media industry, the producer and video editor (Colvers) formed an independent label TrillSixty Records. Through YouTube videos, the label spiralled into a small part of the music industry being acknowledged by the UK’s leading music channel Link Up TV with their release of WhyKreep’s first debut track titled “The Intro”.

Following a mixtape and EP, after due success, the grime artist had the opportunity to become an opening act for Logan Sama’s Boiler Room, joined by the likes of artists such as Invasion Alert, Kano, Devlin and Ghetto. WhyKreeps reveals that he is currently working on an unnamed EP project however it will be soon released, expecting hard bars and tales of his past to provoke a buzz to the grime scene.

The North London rapper comments “My goals are to provide hope to people that think there is no way out or are limited with opportunity to do more.” WhyKreeps is certainly a name we’ll be hearing more of in the near future, so start the support by viewing his recent Link Up TV track “Off For A Minute” as he drops lyrical word play and hard flow representing the streets of his home town.
