React is the latest proprietary technology from Nike which is arguably the swooshes answer to Adidas Boost; the tech which has helped Adidas become the second most popular footwear brand in the US. To get the elephant out of the room the Epic React as a whole looks extremely similar to the Ultraboost, which is probably due to both pairs being marketed to the same audience. Nike do however say the Reacts Flyknit upper is based on the Flyknit Racer and the Vapormax.
The React tech actually made it’s debut last year on the Nike Hyperdunk (a basketball shoe) but, the tech has been tooled once more to suit the running market which will of course overlap with the casual/lifestyle buyers. React is a foam sole which is designed by Nike to not only give the wearer cushion, but also a spring/bounce in there step.
The foam is softer than traditional EVA foam, which means it will flatten overtime. The swoosh combat this by simply making the soles thicker but allows the Reacts to keep there comfort.
