Instagram have announced their new ‘IGTV’ video feature that will allow users to upload videos up to one hour, a far stretch from the previous one-minute limit.
IGTV is home to the new longer-form videos from content creators and Instagram users which is likely to rival giant Youtube. The feature is accessible both in app on the home screen, as well as a standalone app. The aim of IGTV is to enhance the viewers experience in-app & will allow users to swipe seamlessly through videos of their favourite accounts & celebrities, browse personally recommended videos and popular videos. Users will also get notifications from the IGTV button alerting them to new content. It will also let creators develop Instagram Channels full of their different videos that people can subscribe to.
“It’s time for video to move forward, and evolve,” said Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom onstage at the event. “IGTV is for watching long-from videos from your favourite creators.”
