With a number of videos online and a considerable fan base growing in London and beyond, the rising star of East London, J Hus is getting his name heard. Mixing an Afrobeats inspired style of music with memorable ad-libs, J Hus is able to set himself apart from the pack of up and coming MCs. Today, TRAPPED break down J Hus and his most memorable videos so you can ride the wave and join the hype of J Hus…

Back in early December 2014, J Hus kept popping up all over social media while videos of his many freestyles were being shared in large numbers. In each visual, filmed by UK Media Platforms SBTV, GRM Daily and Link Up TV, J Hus spoke about a life of crime, girls and “chilling on the block”. While these topics are nothing new, J Hus breathed a breath of fresh air into his lyrics with his catchy adlibs and Afrorap style. The videos themselves have been watched over a million times and with so much done in such a short space of time, things must surely be looking up?

J Hus built on this initial success with a number of big collaborations, working with fellow UK MCs including Paigey Cakey and Mo Stacks on track ‘No Buddy’ and featuring on a remix of ‘Aint on Nuttin’ with names such as Bonkaz, Reeko and Shower Malik.

While the freestyles and features highlighted J Hus’s lyrical prowess and ability to weave intricate bars, many people awaited a full solo release and many doubted whether it would match up to the rawness of the Warm Up Session or Street Heat Freestyle. However, J Hus proved the haters wrong and delivered a track entitled ‘No Lie’ at the back end of February 2015. The track, accompanied by a decent video, allowed J Hus to incorporate all of the things he does well and is a catchy tune which has been spun on radio stations including 1Xtra.

The status of J Hus elevated to another level when he was chosen to feature on Tim Westwood’s online series; Crib Sessions. While many MCs of his age and experience could have faltered on such a high stage, J Hus, along with Mo Stacks, Villz and Scammy, really come into their own, step up to the plate and are able to drop some classic bars and hooks over a variety of beats. J Hus really impressed critics with this video and people are calling on him to release more music, drop a mixtape and are looking forward to collaborations with other artists in the UK.

“That p**sy boy breathing, trust me its luck. I’ve never been handsome, I’m ugly as fuck!”
