Our Resident writer Starrish Tay is back and this time she is schooling us on the UK Rap Battle Scene’s events.
Last year the world’s most respected MC battle arena Ultimate Rap League (URL TV) announced that Rap Battle League Gift of the Gab will be hosting the first ever European Proving Grounds event called ‘Order and Chaos‘ in London.
Gift Of The Gab has been gaining recognition from the top tiers of the rap battle world and quickly been noted as being the best league representing for the UK. This week they released the first battle with UK artists Gee Money and Kappz going toe-to-toe in an intense 3 rounds.
It’s good seeing Kappz improvements in wordplay, delivery and flow but if we are honest he still lacks punch and presence. Without presence the bars just keep flying over everyone’s head with no landing and no appreciation from the stiff audience. For debut battler Gee Money it was a differnet story, he shoved his presence, delivery, content, flow, versatility, you know… BARS! BOOM! All up in Kappz face. The crazy metaphors and wordplay was mental.
It’s looking like a good start to the release of URL’s first ‘London Proving Grounds’ event Order & Chaos. Looking forward to the rest of the battles being released?
