Twitter has been hotting up recently over a Boots SPF chart for sun tan lotion labelling white skin as ‘normal’. Many people are outraged over the choice of words including Labour MP of Brent Central, Dawn Butler, who is the UK’s first elected female African-Caribbean Government Minister. She tweeted “I would like an explanation to what constitutes as normal skin please @BootsUK boots. Don’t worry I’ll send a letter to head office today thanks”.
Boots’ twitter helpline has replied to Dawn and other twitter users stating: “Thanks for sharing. This isn’t official Boots show material & we’ve removed it from the store. Sorry for any offence caused.” But is it too little too late for the health and beauty retailer?
