Barbie has bagged herself a new home in Selfridges, In a dream house worthy of ‘Cribs’, designed by ‘Roksanda’ . Barbie’s new pad is in celebration of London’s leading department store launching their 4th floor toy store this week, but Barbie couldn’t kick it in her new yard in any old clothes so she has had a makeover with designs created by leading design talents Nasir Mazhar, Fred Butler and SISTER by SIBLING. Nasir’s street wear vibe is our favorite of the collection, Nasir has dressed her in gorgeous sports lux pieces and created a sweat suit for Barbie’s chaperone Ken.
“I never realised how intricate it would be to recreate my collection in miniature for Barbie,” says Nasir. “It was good to include Ken too so he could chaperone her.”
The exhibition also features a totem pole and a celebratory look at Barbies role as a top fashion icon, with design talents such as Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Chanel giving her makeovers. The girls here at Trapped will be making their excuses to go shopping early this week. Mmm wonder if they have made any of it in their size?
