The world’s first permanent cultural centre for games is now open to the public. The National Videogame Arcade, from the makers of GameCity, hosts a range of gaming equipment- from vintage machines to full current consoles.

The Arcade plays host to an exhibition which details the history of games in the UK called ‘A History Of Games in 100 Objects’, featuring everything from the first game-playing computer to the Oculus Rift. On top of this, the Arcade will host four rolling exhibitions each year.

“Videogames are pioneering new forms of creative expression and engagement with technology,”

 Co-Director Jonathan Smith.

“A new generation is growing up with games that shape their fundamental conceptions of social interaction, creativity and learning.

“At this incredibly exciting time, The National Videogame Arcade invites everyone to share in the discovery of new ways for people to play together.”
